• Blood Donation Drive

A Blood Donation Drive was organised by the Uni.Asia General Sports and Welfare Club on 23 December 2008.

The campaign was held in collaboration with the National Blood Bank at Menara Uni.Asia.

During the campaign, there were first-time donors as well as those who have donated frequently. Fifty-two staff of Uni.Asia General successfully stepped up doing their bid to replenish blood supply at the blood bank.

According to statistics, every three seconds, someone needs blood and just one pint of donated blood can help to save as many as three lives.

It is hoped that this campaign can be made into an annual event, as hospitals in the Klang Valley are always in need of volunteers to replenish its depleting blood supply as a result of the rising rate of accidents, floods and diseases in the country.

• Old Folks Home Asrama Cahaya

After the charity visits to two orphanages, Uni.Asia General embarked on another visit to the old folks of Asrama Cahaya on 23 January 2009.

As a prelude to the Chinese New Year celebration, Uni.Asia General staff made their way to the home with contributions such as food hampers and goodies bags which containing essential items like canned food, milk powder and cookies.

The home’s residents were overjoyed to receive ang pows from Uni.Asia General.

It may seem like simple acts during Chinese New Year but for the old folks, these are things that they do not get to cherish with loved ones and family members.

The home, managed by Sister Betty for over 20 years now, is located in Bukit Nanas. It is home to many senior citizens, some of whom were abandoned by their own children. There are also several handicapped residents there who were abandoned by their parents since birth.

The visit to the home was part of Uni.Asia General’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to give back to society and bring joy to old folks during the festive season.
