Employees & Agents

We aim to be a caring employer, operating first class employment practices by engaging able and qualified employees who are responsible and energised in embracing our business strategy and culture in order to help making our business successful. We are committed to investing in employees and developing current and future leaders. This is achieved through a welcoming and collaborative environment, a safe and healthy workplace, organisational transparency, and attractive compensation.

• Equal Opportunity to All

We offer equal opportunity to all employees and positions are filled solely on the basis of a candidate’s qualifications, with no consideration given to gender. We are concerned primarily with promoting cooperation across cultural groups thereby making a contribution to mutual understanding and tolerance.

• Training and Development

We are committed to train and develop our employees and agents by frequently conduct training for them to raise their bar of excellence as well as to maximise productivity. Getting the best out of employees and agents is vital if we are to compete successfully. Customers benefit from better technical knowledge and advice and our employees and agents get the chance to improve their skills, qualifications and advance their careers.

In 2008, our employees and agents have participated in programmes that develop their skills, such as team building and leadership programmes. Participation in these programmes provides them with opportunity to experience what they would not normally learn in their day-to-day jobs, stimulating creative thinking and problem solving.

• Health and Safety

We are also committed to create a safe and secure working environment that protects the health and well being of our employees. We have equipped our buildings and branches with safety equipment and we have also conducted various programmes periodically such as fire and emergency evacuation drills to eliminate occupational hazards and accidents as well as to ensure all employees have basic fire safety and emergency response skills in the event of disasters.

As part of our company’s on-going corporate social responsibility programme to promote healthy living and encourage higher productivity, Uni.Asia General has declared all its offices as “Smoke Free Zones”. In embracing this new policy whole-heartedly, smoking is now prohibited at workstations and other public areas within the office premises. This became a blanket ruling for all the staff at headquarters as well as the branches effective 1 May 2008.
